Diwali Celebration with Flyover/slum kids

Dear friends, as we know, everybody is keenly awaiting Diwali celebrations. Spirits are high as whole nation approaches climax of month long festive season (Not to forget lovely Christmas at end of year). Change of weather is round the corner as Delhi NCR approaches its amazing winters. Diwali is special time when we love to meet our friends and dear ones, to spend time with them those auspicious moments of Diwali.

For Team Blue Pen, investing this festive time in educative sessions with flyover kids is surely way to go! Our volunteers wait for whole week, for next Sunday when they can carry on with these young child prodigies at Delhi Flyovers.

Ms Devyanshi, our new volunteer at Gurugram line, who celebrated her Birthday with Gurugram kids, mentions, “It was a great pleasure to be with these kids. Such a talented and beautiful kids. Spending my special day with these special and loving kids made my day much special. I think we all should volunteer atleast once to be the reason of their happiness. It was a special feeling when you talk to them, motivate them for education and have fun with them. Bestest birthday celebration ever.Thanks to #BluePen NGO for putting your efforts for a great cause and giving this opportunity to serve them.”

Mr Jai Khatri, Volunteer Coordinator (Gurugram-Noida) shares, “ONE MORE PEARL MOMENT IN BLUEPEN NECKLACE-we started our cold morning with students of gurugram first center . Along with energetic volunteers Jai , Kajal , Aryan & Deepak ji . Proper class was conducted by dividing students in various groups . We divided students so that volunteers can give more attention on them . One of our volunteer was absent due to some emergency so he had send her elder sister on his position, which shows a good dedication to work .sushant (student from Rayan international school ) devoted his time and helped us to teach students and donated biscuits among students . BLUEPEN is becoming a rising star in gurugram people coming forward and donating knowledge and food for our kids . MS DEVYANSHI googled about us and she visited our center with her family and friends and donated chips and meal for our students . She also interacted with kids , played with them . Along with this Jai , Kajal & Aryan moved to kadipur center where we give moral values to kids and conducted classes .Thanks to all guest who visited today and all the volunteers also who had given time”

Mr Shivam, Volunteer-Coordinator (Noida-Okhla-Faridabad line) discusses, “Today we started at 9.30 am at Noida centre and our volunteer Ms Ritika had bought some stationary stuff for the kids. She cares for them so much that she gifted them as per age, like Elder Kids with Pen and refill set, for kids from nursery to 4th she gifted them pencil, eraser, sharpner and scale and the little kids with cakes and cookies that would be the best gift for them too….”

Mr Shivam goes further, “Coming to studies, all our volunteers Deepak, Sandeep, Letasha, Sheba, Ritika and Shivam. worked very hard to make the sessions interactive too. Today we explained about the #Dengue#, its precautions and effects. Coming sunday, we are having Diya-making competition and quiz competiton related to Diwali. Hoping for an amazing experience again.”

Mr Sourav, Volunteer-Coordinator (Munirka-Nizamuddin line) discusses, “Today we started our session with full enthusiasm first at Munirika flyover where Prashant taught alphabet to kids Jyoti taught number system, ascending order and descending order. Ankita gave essay to write at end, on the high demand of kids . Wont forget to mention all-masti-ride, which was conducted which was enjoyed alot by kids. Kids were full of joy as they were enjoying that moment and the happiness and smile on there face was just wonderful….

Mr Sourav adds, “At nizamuddin Rein basera, ankita n jyoti together taught flyover kids number system in ascending and descending order. Further, basic maths was discussed, as well as science, general information and moral stories. Talks about fun games were held. At Tuqlakabad, akash and jyoti divided the kids according to their class. Jyoti taught alphabets,tables ,dogging and gave hindi dictation to the kids. Akash taught science and maths to higher classes. At end of the session, a small rapid fire Quiz was also conducted among all the kids, just to boost up their confidence. In short, it was unadulterated fun whole day”

Kavita Chaudhary, Volunteer-Coordinator (IIT-Safdarjung line) shares, “Like any other day, we started our energetic day from IIT flyover. We taught basic things to them before we moved to our next center Safdarjung. There, We taught about Solar system, children learned very eagerly.We also told them about Diwali festival.
After lunch, we moved to our next center Sangam vihar, where we conducted test and also we celebrated Birthday of two kids”

Rahul basist, Volunteer-Coordinator (R K Puram line) mentions, “At Munerka Flyover, we taught students about english alphabets by drawing pictures corresponding to those alphabets ( to first get the base right) and mathematical operations to few students . And Yeah children also enjoyed the mini ferris wheel ”

A. WHAT WE DO? :- Our objective is to impart to Kids/Women of Flyover/Slums, following modules:-
* Regular Teaching sessions, with special focus on females (on lines of “Beti Padhao-Beti Bachao Abhiyaan”)
* Teaching Cleanliness & Personal Hygiene (on lines of “Swachch Bharat Abhiyaan”)
* Nutritious Food (on lines of “Swastha Bachpan” Program)
* Skill development (Ex. Cycle/mobile/auto
repair etc) (on lines of “Kushal Bharat Abhiyaan”)
* Regular Medical Checkups (on lines of “Swastha Bachpan” Program)
* Teaching Electronic Gadgets (on lines of “Digital Connect India Program”)

B. OUR SCHEDULE:- Every Sunday, our timetable is:

*930-1030AM : Kolkata, Munirka-I, Munirka-II, & IIT flyover, Gurgaon I and Noida (all parallel sessions)

*11-12PM: Safdarjung-I, Safadarjung-II, Gurgaon II, Nizamuddin Park, Nizamuddin Flyover and Okhla sessions (parallel sessions)

*12:30-1PM: lunch of volunteers at near GK & Okhla

*2-4PM: “Extended” sessions at Prajapati mohalla, Tughlaqabad village & Sangam vihar and Faridabad (all parallel sessions)
